Bird toys for cockatiels

Cockatiels are gentle chewers and cautious about anything new. A toy dropped into the cage today may be ignored for a week and then destroyed in an afternoon, so patience matters more than variety.

They do best with soft wood they can peel and shred rather than hard blocks to gnaw, and many prefer a toy hung next to a favourite perch to one in open space. Foot toys are hit and miss; some cockatiels never take to them, others carry a sisal bead everywhere. The starter kit is a cheap way to find out which yours is.
